Who is behind JLC Software?

JLC’s Software is the name of a “one-man company” run by a 21 year old guy from Norway called Joakim L. Christiansen (hence JLC). He is a self-learned programmer and his area of expertise is mostly application programming, server-scripting and webdesign and he is currently working on several projects but is most known for the JLC’s Internet TV application.

Eraser is an advanced security tool (for Windows), which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns. Works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 2003 Server and DOS.

Eraser is Free software and its source code is released under GNU General Public License.

The patterns used for overwriting are based on Peter Gutmann’s paper “Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory” and they are selected to effectively remove magnetic remnants from the hard drive.

Eraser removes data from your computer completely. You may already know that when you “format” a drive, the information is still there. The best way to completely remove data is to write over it, and this is what Eraser does. Eraser is designed for XP, Server 2003, and older Windows versions.
